So, here are my tips, my every day hair routine, and some of the extras, too.....
Shampoo: I recently discovered Mane and Tail's shampoo and I LOVE IT!!! Not only is it like incredibly cheap, it's perfect for my hair!!!! I do have the conditioner, but it leaves my hair just a little too soft. It's great to use for shaving my legs, though, haha!! I have done some shopping on the Mane and Tail products, and I have looked from Wal-Mart to farm stores (since it's mainly used for horses- go figure!!), and other drug stores. From what I've found, it's cheapest to buy it from Sally's Beauty Supply, though right now, Tractor Supply sells the shampoo, along with hand cream, for $5, and you can't beat that price!! I don't know if every Tractor Supply is doing this, though. I'd check Sally's for sure!!
Conditioner: I've been using Nature's Gate Jojoba conditioner forever, and these two products- Mane and Tail's Shampoo and this conditioner- have been perfect for my hair!!!
Styling: Bobby pins are a must for me. I can't live without them. Except I'm not using them now, but I seriously use them ALL THE TIME.!!!! And yes, I lose them just like everyone else does, haha!! I mostly just pull the front of my hair into a side pouf or even a front pouf. I like how it looks instantly feminine and "done" with very little effort when I style my hair like this.
A curling iron and hairspray have been my 2 main staples since I was 9 years old and learning how to do my hair. I cannot live without these two things!!!! The size of curling iron has varied over the years, my favorite size is 1/2", but 1" works pretty well, too.
Dry Shampoo: Most of the time, I don't wash my hair every day, and when I need to get some body and some of the "grease" out of it, I use Pantene's dry shampoo. I like it best, I've tried others and I can't stand the smell, but this one isn't too bad.
Quick and easy DIY Highlights: I have gotten highlights in my black hair before, and I love them. But I haven't been able to do that for awhile, so my hair grew out and it looks like I paid alot of money to get the Ombre' look, but I didn't!! I've wanted to lighten the top part of my hair a little, so I've sprayed Sun-In in my hair and it's helping to balance out the colors. I used to use it all the time, and I know it's not the greatest for your hair, but if you use it just one day and hang out in the sun, then wash your hair afterwards, it's great!!
Need Help: The only thing I really don't know how to use is root lifter. Can anyone help me with this one?? Haha!!! What I do is bring the sections of hair up and forward and spray toward the root, and then after it's had a few seconds to dry, I smooth it back down.....I've done the same with hairspray, and it seems to work similarly.....Does anyone have any good tips on how to lift the crown of your hair without all the bumps?? How do you use root lifter if you use it??
And you've seen the results. Today, I just quickly curled my hair to show you guys the basics of what I do. I curl sections of it into ringlets, and I alternate which ringlet goes which way. For instance, when I curl one forward, I curl the next one backwards, and so on. It creates volume and waves that don't get stuck together on one big curl. I can do this in just a few minutes with like 6 or 7 ringlets in my hair, or if I have more time, I section my hair into 2 or 3 sections and end up with alot more ringlets. One cool tip for me is to leave the ringlets while I'm doing other things and let them cool off, even leave them in for an hour or so. Then I run my fingers through them and they are perfect waves. The ringlets can act like hot rollers.
Hair styling is so much fun and I think it really depends on the hair, and also the region you live in, how it turns out!!! For me, I live in Colorado, where it tends to be more dry and less humid, though this year we've had lots of humidity because of all the rain. If I lived in a more humid state, I'd probably have a whole different routine!! haha
I hope this was fun for you, it sure was for me, and I also hope you get some tips on how to play around with your hair!! I'm going to go ahead and post this and then read through some of the blogs on Kelly's Korner so I can glean some hair styling tips. Maybe I'll know more about Root Lifter when I'm done!! Haha
Loves and hugs, Priscilla!!!
