I just finished the book this morning. This was a book I walked alongside as I read it, I could relate to this woman's thought processes and I could understand the need to find joy, even a little bit of happy, in this sometimes sad and scary world.
I've been wanting to somehow continue to bring attention to my little card shop, but also let you in on the little details of my life every day. Project 365 has been a great way for me to do that, but it's 4 days from being over!!! I cannot believe it!!! I was praying for wisdom and for a way to continue to write for this blog, and that's when I came across this author's blog and something she calls The Joy Dare.
In the book, she was dared to look for and record 1,000 gifts from God and to thank Him for them. In doing so, it created a habit of looking for Him everywhere, and in looking for Him everywhere, she found Him everywhere; loving her, gifting her with little nuggets of His Presence. In the past few years, I've learned to look for God's ways in my life. How He's worked this situation out, how He's taught me, and how to see how these things couldn't have happened had it not been for His working in my life. In a way, these two exercises are the same, or very similar. In counting gifts, I think it's seeing even the littlest thing God gives us and thanking Him for them. It's not just looking for ways He might have worked this or that out, this fills in all the nooks and crannies of my life, and helps me see God's grace everywhere. In a way, I've always done that, but lately, I've been wanting to become even more deliberate in doing more of it.
I would like to extend this invitation to anyone who would like to do the same. This dare, this Project Joy as I will call it, is as simple as seeing the gifts God gives you and thanking Him for them, whether it's a beautiful sunset you saw, or light falling on your hand, or the way the leaves sound, etc. If you want the extra challenge, write them down. Audibly thank God for what you write down. And if you want to go the mile, blog about it!! Haha!! I'm going to continue with taking photos every day and posting them. It's Project 365 with a purpose: to showcase some of my gifts from God. I will have so many more than what I will share on this blog, but I hope in doing this, it will encourage you to see what's around you, what God has so graciously given you in your own life. I will use the guides from the Joy Dare, but I know I will have so many more than just these to write down!!!
Living this deliberately will take practice, but Project 365 has totally given me that!!! I can't wait to see what will happen in the next year!!!! In the next few days, I will share with you some of the "behind the scenes" of this past year. It's amazing to look back at a year and see how much happened and how much got accomplished!!!
Thanks so much for reading!!! Blessings loves and hugs!!!!
P.S. My middle name is Ann!!! :0) (In the book, she shares how her name, Ann, means Full of Grace.....and why that's important.)
