Thanks for reading this long rant about my winter-blues-turned-winter- bliss!! :0)
I've been needing to update my winter wardrobe for years now. I'm such a warm weather girl, and I have such a hard time getting excited about winter clothes. However, once Winter comes along, I have nothing cute to wear, and I'm always cold. Believe it or not, years ago, I got rid of all my turtlenecks and "uncool" sweaters, lol. Bad idea. Mostly what I had left were old sweatshirts with Christian messages on them, and long sleeved t-shirts that hardly fit anymore. I decided winter was such a cold season, who cared how I looked anyway. As long as my hair and makeup looked nice, I was ok. But this year, I asked God to help me enjoy winter as much as I enjoyed the other seasons last year. He has shown me the beauty of the bare trees against the blue, or gray, skies and I've fallen in love with them!! They look like lace to me!! I've asked God to help me embrace winter, and to learn how to dress warmly and well this winter. I was looking at my closet and not too impressed with what I saw, and then my mom and I recently took our little shopping trip with our little gift cards. We found some really cute sweaters that were both warm and stylish, one being this really pretty sweater with lace on the bottom of the hem. Then I realized what I needed to complete a few outfits I already had was a turtlneck. Now, I hate anything around my neck. I love the looks of scarves and sometimes I can wear one and feel comfortable in it. But sometimes, I can get quite nauseous if something is too tight around my neck. Touching my neck can be too tight, lol. So, we headed to a store and I looked for mock turtlenecks. An actual turtleneck was too much of a commitment for me, lol. I'd try the mocks. I got 3 colors and I've already worn one. I really like it, and yesterday, when I got ready for the day, I felt like I was finally put together for the first time in many winters!!! Who knew a couple of cute sweaters and turtlenecks would make the difference!! Haha!!!

So, this afternoon, I had loads to do. I mean, loads. As in, loads of laundry, 2 blog posts to write and hopefully publish, cards to make, etc. Well, all that was a little delayed because of this little monkey!!!! I think he's affected by the clouds like my mom and I are. We spent a solid hour cuddling with him. We took pictures, but they're not very clear, lol. We did eventually have to get up and get some work done, but he would have preferred we stayed. He has never cuddled like this before, but I have a feeling that a few more cuddling sessions are in my future!!! :0) Barnaby looks peaceful in the picture below, but I assure you, he was on top of poor Paul's head right before and after that, trying to rouse the poor "little" kitty!!!! :0)
I've been wanting to do this post for awhile, but I didn't want to sound like I'm wanting to get fit for the New Year, or get "bikini ready", though I'm not opposed to those posts or anything. I get inspired by them, but that's not what my "Workout Routine" is about. If you keep up with my blog, you know I had polio as a baby and that I mostly work out with Lisa from Pilates by Lisa on her online studio. I tend to deal with fatigue a lot, and while its a really great thing for most people to push their bodies to the max, I have to be careful because pushing myself can be risky for my muscles because of the polio. So, "daily workouts", per se, isn't something I can do all the time. I do stretch every morning as soon as I get up and I can tell the difference if I don't do it. I love doing Lisa's Stretching routines. Buf if nothing else, I do the Mermaid Stretch everyday. It's my favorite way to stretch out my sides, a vulnerable place for me since I was injured there awhile back
On good days, which I have more often than not- Thank God!!!- I do a 5 Minute Arm Toning Workout with my mom. I love this one because it gently works my arms from every angle!! I do Lisa's arm workouts from time to time, but this one is best for me to do every single day that I feel able to do it, which seriously is every single day unless I'm particularly fatigued.
I also like to do a 5 minute ab workout from YouTube. I follow my Pilates principles when I do these, so I don't do it exactly the same way as is shown in this video. But a proper crunch is a proper crunch and I definitely feel it when I do this video!! I also try to do a good Pilates video from Lisa's studio to help me stretch all the way back out after I do these crunches.
Last, but not least I've been trying to work my legs a little bit. I just found this video on YouTube to show you, but I have been doing these without a video. I've had to really be careful, though, because these are brand new to my workout regime and I might have set myself back a little the first week I introduced them to my little legs, lol!! I only use 5 lb weights, and even that might be a little too much for right now.
Anyway, that is my work out routine, such as it is.
Thanks so much for reading!!! :0)
PS Haha, I knew I was going to forget something!! This move in the above picture is one I do almost every day with 5 lb weights. I love doing this one!!
I took this photo early this morning, and I've been crazy busy ever since. This has been such a busy few days for me, and I'm exhausted!! Hope you're all doing well!!! Loves and hugs!!!
PS Would you look at that sunrise, though????
Today is my dad's birthday and we lived it to the fullest. My mom and I waited with him for 2 1/2 hours as he got his drivers liscence renewed. Talk about a gift!! Haha, you could really tell the characters of the people waiting. Most had enduring strength!! Some got impatient and left right away, and some would come and go as they waited for their numbers to be called. I think the DMV is the most boring place in the world to be!! I think everyone would agree with that!!
After my dad was done there, we went to lunch and because it was his birthday, he got a complimentary birthday ice cream. With sprinkles. Then we went for Starbucks, and over to one of his favorite tool stores!! And then over to Cold Stone Creamery for some more ice cream. :0) Then we ran a couple of errands, and then home for a light dinner. Talk about a full day!!! But he's had a wonderful day!!
I'm so thankful for my dad!! He's a good man who still works hard to provide for his family. He's had some hard times, but his faith in the Lord has really strengthened him and helped him. We are not a perfect family by any stretch of the imagination, but what we are and what we have with eachother is rare and good!! God is good.
Tomorrow is my dad's birthday, so I put together a little birthday basket for him. It's not much, just little things to help his joints when he's been working extra hard on furniture.
I apologize for not having anything to put up for yesterday. I was very busy with family and I didn't have time to work on any kind of content for the blog. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!!
No, I'm not a few weeks late, or months too early!! I got an order (and paymemnt) for 40 cards, so I decided to work on them, starting now!!! These cards come with a whole new set of challenges, though, because my customer wanted cards that she could send with normal postage. I honestly never thought about postage, until my friend requested that hers be the correct weight. So, I've had to ponder how to make my cards just as fancy as ever, but ounces lighter!! Enter, my new little tool: the Snowflake paper punch!!! I've had the polka dot one for awhile, but never used it until now. I'm pretty excited to make fancy cards that are even more "user friendly"!!!
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!!!
I had these delicious things after a long, but fun day shopping!!! I finally used up all my birthday and Christmas gift cards today!! However, I have spare change on some of my cards, lol!! I was even trying to use them all up, but it didn't work. Oh well!!
In other news, tomorrow, I will be busy in the studio, working on a card project that will probably take me all year!! Can't wait!!!
Hope you're all having a great Friday evening!!!
Hey guys!! I slept through my 4:00 AM alarm this morning, so I had to rush and get ready to leave by 7:00 AM. Considering, I had to be up and dressed and ready for a very long day of errands and such, and my hair and makeup had to last ALL. DAY. LONG, I didn't do too badly, lol!! I didn't have time to study since I slept in, and so I read through my scripture cards as I ate breakfast. We made it to our reflexology appointment and that's me waiting, and then that's what it looked like when I was getting reflexology, lol!! We had lunch with our friend/reflexologist and it was such a fun time!!
Then we ran all our errands today!! I bought alot of new product to work on my biggest order yet of Christmas cards for a friend next year!!! I will be working on these throughout the year!!! I'm pretty excited!!! The clerk at the grocery store knows me too well as she asked me if I was getting Starbucks, and it was funny because before going in, I'd already gone!!! It was my first Starbucks of the year!!! ;0) I also used a gift card my cousins got me for my birthday back in September and I bought this beautiful bag at DSW!!! I LOVE it!!!! I even made a little video to show them, and then decided to put music to it and show you guys, too!!!
Last week, I ordered a print from HP and when I got it yesterday, it came like this. It's pretty damaged. I was able to ask them to send another one and they were very nice. So, hopefully, this next one isn't damaged!!
I was browsing through my instagram feed this morning and these two pictures really stood out to me. Love them both.
I hope you all have a had a wonderful day!!!
Loves and hugs!!!
Silly kitty!! I had to capture his pose, even though these aren't the best quality shots, hahaha!! I have to move quickly with this little monkey!! PS whenever he sees the camera, he is super posey!!! Hahaha
I am a fancy card maker, photographer and blogger. I also drink coffee and eat healthy and like to look pretty. Thanks for dropping by!!! :0)
